Head – Communications
In just 8 years, Lakshmi Nair has shown herself to be an indispensable asset of any team through her professional experience in Marketing, Business Development and Communications.
Nair’s career started in Abu Dhabi as a Cost Controller where one of her key achievements was in blueprinting a new software implementation that reduced time spent on costing activities.
After a few years of developing her skills in that field, Nair’s work with startups began during her time in France where she received her Master’s in Business Development. Keen to develop a thorough understanding of startups and their challenges, Nair’s thesis was on the use of cost-effective guerrilla marketing techniques for tech startups in her University’s incubator. She also developed marketing plans for research participants, which was outside the scope of her thesis. Notably, she was able to implement her studies in real-world situations.
Upon returning to Bangalore, Nair did a stint at KPMG, where she led digital strategy and internal communications for their Risk Consulting practice. This encompassed internal marketing, project management and content writing. Most recently at PwC, Nair was part of the team that conceptualized and executed a national startup programme targeted at growth-stage startups. Her other roles included content strategy, vendor management, external communications and executing PwC’s advisory role in other startup programme alliances.
As the Head of Communications at Turbostart, Nair looks forward to using all the skills she has evolved over the years to contribute to the start-up ecosystem.
